Tyler Highfill, PE

President (Cary Office)

Professional/Personal Mantra or Motto

"True leaders don't lead to gain power. They lead to empower and give power away." - Jon Gordon

In my profession, I am most fulfilled when…

a project is placed into service and when I see a young engineer develop into a project leader.

Who is someone you admire and why?

Cal Ripken, Jr.: Sure he had a dream job, but he showed up for work 2,632 days in a row! Think about that. If he worked a Monday through Friday job, that would be 10 years of showing up every day.

When I'm not working, I enjoy…

being outside, riding a bike, working in the yard, exercising, or doing just about anything.

What lesson from the past has helped shape who you are today?

My parents instilled in me a strong work ethic. Chores happened first. When something broke, we figured out how to fix it. If we wanted something new, we often figured out how to build it.

What is your biggest pet peeve?

When people talk with a mouth full of food.

I'm known around the office for…

the guy that spends too much money on Thin Mint Girl Scout cookies.

What is your Spirit Animal?

An eagle, because I love to see the world from a high perch.
